What is Miraculos
Unlock the miraculous benefits of a consistent movement practice
Miraculos is my home on the web to talk about building a mindful movement practice drawing from movement disciplines like yoga, pranayama/breath work, body weight exercises, dance and more.
Movement matters; it matters to our brain health. When I use the term 'movement' I believe it includes breathing as 'breathing' is another movement pattern.
While exercise may have been termed as the 'miracle cure'. What makes exercise truly miraculous is when movement is a consistent, varied and progressively challenging practice.
The expanding choice of movement disciplines available to us is mind boggling, each claiming to be the best and only practice you need. While there are no good or bad movement disciplines, there are however movement patterns, practices and habits that are effective and efficient and influence not just how you look but also how you feel and experience your life.
Amidst the many fitness/exercise disciplines and evolving fads we’ve forgotten three things:
1. Our bodies are not disparate parts stitched together but that we are an integrated whole, each part connected and influencing/influenced by another part of the body.
2. Any movement practice should help you build awareness; strength and mobility. Understanding the basic principles of movement helps you stay safe, mobile and present. So that no matter which fitness/exercise regime you practice, you approach it with confidence because you have learnt the basic principles of movement.
3. All good things take time. Consistent practice is way more effective and cheaper than any quick fix treatment. The rewards of a regular movement practice lasts a lifetime.
I believe that a good movement practice is one that teaches you to
- build better body awareness, strength and mobility
- understand and apply the basic principles that govern movement and breathing
- see your body as an integrated system that works together
- move in a variety of ways, on a variety of surfaces with confidence
- be self-reliant, capable and confident to get about your life
This is what I teach to individuals and small groups who work with me and what I wish to share through words and audiovisuals on this website.
I’m Parveen and the author of this blog and website. I am a movement practitioner and teacher. I have a certificate in Advanced Yoga Studies with Donna Farhi and a Corrective Exercise Specialist certificate in the Biomechanics Method.
I am passionate about making movement accessible to people of different ages, abilities and personalities. I am also a 'posture nerd'; obsessed about posture!
Essentially I’m interested in helping people progressively build their skills and capabilities in fundamental movements. My ultimate goal is to make people self-reliant and confident in their movement practice.
I'm a practitioner at heart and I've personally seen the value of a consistent practice in all areas of my life. I feel we are so focused on problem solving alone that we've forgotten the miraculous benefits of the discipline of consistently showing up to any endeavor!
